In an effort to help the many Americans who do not like or cannot afford the official Obamacare plans, President Trump signed an Executive Order that does three things to help with Obamacare in 2019:
- Eliminate the tax penalty for not having an official Obamacare plan.
- Allow individuals to have short term major medical plans for up to 364 days.
- Make it easier for association plans to be available for individuals.
What are the pros and cons of short term Major Medical plans?
Pros – Short term plans can be up to 50% less than Obamacare Plans and offer a national PPO plan allowing you to have access to thousands more healthcare providers without having to get a referral.
Cons – Short term plans are medically underwritten and not all individuals will qualify. Short term plans do not cover pre-existing conditions or preventive care.

What about the Association plans?
Currently I only have access to one association plan that is designed for Sole Proprietors and 1099 employees. It also offers a National PPO network, covers Pre-exiting conditions, and preventive care. The downside is they are underwriting and not everyone will qualify. If you still want or need an official Obamacare plan, the only two companies I have to offer for 2019 is Blue Cross and OSCAR. Unfortunately VISTA360 will be closing its doors do to the complexity of Obamacare. Remember the deadline to sign up for an Obamacare plan is December 15th, 2018.
